Attractions near Echo Lake Cottages

Echo Lake
Echo Lake is one of the largest lakes in the
area. Stretching 5 miles long, 1 mile wide, and nearly 90 feet deep,
it offers the angler a diverse array of fish. The most common
species are Walleye, Northern Pike, Small Mouth Bass, and Perch. The
Ontario
Ministry of Natural Resources will provide the required
licensing and regulation information. |

St. Mary's River
St. Mary's River is the border between Canada and
the USA. It joins Lake Superior with Lake Huron and is a wonderful
source for trout and salmon, as well as walleye, bass, and perch. It
provides an exciting challenge for the angler who wishes to fly fish
or use spinning gear.

ATVing Adventure abounds around each turn
at Echo Lake. Hundreds of miles of logging roads and trails offer
new challenges while the hills and mountains present spectacular
views for your enjoyment. Be sure to pack a compass,
map and GPS, and don't forget the camera. |

Canoeing and Kayaking
Echo Lake Cottage is nestled within hundreds of
lakes, river, and streams which offer adventure for all water
enthusiasts. The casual canoe paddlers, the avid fisherman, and the
die-hard, rolling, whitewater zealot will find abundant challenges
here. |

Skiing
Searchmont
Ski Resort, with its 700 foot vertical, is just a short
hour-long drive from Echo Lake Cottage. Open from mid-November to
the end of April, it will test your downhill skills. Buttermilk
Alpine Ski Village and
Heyden Ski
Hill are also nearby.
For the ardent cross-country skier,
Searchmont Ski
Resort, Fort Creek Conservation Area,
Sault Trails and Recreation,
Parks Canada, and
Stokeley Creek

Hunting
The abundant wilderness near Echo Lake Cottage is a great source
for moose, bear, deer, and small game hunting. Some species require
a licensed outfitter and guide so please check with the
Canadian Ministry
of Natural Resources before you begin your hunting adventure. |

Wild Berry and Mushroom Picking
The Sault area is well known for its abundance
and variety of mushrooms and for its quantity and quality of wild
blueberries. The nearly endless acres of wilderness and forests
provide many opportunities for picking your favorites. Echo Lake
Cottage is a perfect home base for your berry and mushroom picking
forays in Ontario Canada.
Blueberry picking is July and Aug.
Blackberry picking is late Aug.
Mushroom picking is Spring and Autumn. |
